Igne is looking to appoint a Geoenvironmental Engineer to join our successful Geoenvironmental Division based in Walsall. This is a full time position and will involve travel across the UK to undertake site work. A full UK driving license is essential to be considered for the role. This varied role involves undertaking environmental due diligence reviews, various aspects of ground engineering including preliminary risk assessments, ground investigations, geotechnical assessments, ground contamination appraisals, remedial options appraisals, remediation strategies and associated validation works. Responsibilities

  • Preparation of preliminary risk assessment reports
  • Participate in ground investigation procurement, supervision and management
  • Undertaking ground investigation including trial pitting, soil and water sampling, gas monitoring and logging of soils and rock cores to relevant British Standards and Eurocodes
  • Preparation of laboratory testing schedules
  • Liaising with internal and external clients, contractors and other interested stakeholders
  • Provide interpretation of soil and rock stratigraphy including for the purposes of foundation, earthworks and pavement design
  • Interpretation of underlying strata for mine entries/workings, mineral stability, subsidence investigations and remediation
  • Participate in more specialised geological projects including but not limited to determination of quarry high wall and geological slopes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related subject (Geotechnical Engineering, Geology/Hydrogeology, Environmental Science or related discipline)

Required Skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and reporting abilities
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Full driving license (travel is required)

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge and practical experience of ground investigation and laboratory testing techniques, including logging of soil and rock core samples to relevant British Standards and Eurocodes

Pay range and compensation package

  • £28,000 – £35,000 depending on experience
  • 33 days’ holiday (inclusive of bank holidays)
  • Continuous training and development
  • Death in service scheme
