Field Technician – Construction Materials Testing
Igne is seeking a Field Laboratory Technician to join the Aston Clinton team! But, if you’re picturing a pristine lab, white coats, and microscopes, think again. This isn’t your typical laboratory job.At IGNE we test ground and soil samples using cutting-edge technology to help our construction clients build smarter and more cost-effective solutions for their building projects. It’s hands-on, practical work that plays a crucial role in major building projects.

This role will involve working out on site obtaining various soil and construction material samples and testing them in-situ. Consideration will be given to experienced field technicians and also those without experience as full training will be provided. What we do need is for you to have a clean UK driving license and a desire to work outdoors in all weathers.This is a full-time job with excellent rates of pay and overtime (both in the week and over the weekend), and the opportunity to work in an exciting and growing sector along with excellent career opportunities.

A one-stop-shop for pre- and post-construction services.Igne’s six service categories are: geo-environmental, unexploded ordnance risk mitigation, site investigation, construction materials testing, water wells and geothermal energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- On-site sampling and testing of various construction materials e.g., soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt
- Completion of test sheets and data entry onto tablets
- Liaising with senior members of staff on work schedules and testing procedures
- Working within in-house quality assurance systems
- Maintain high levels of health and safety in line with company policies
Your Qualifications:
- GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
About You:
- Clean UK driving licence
- You will need good communication skills – both written and verbal
- Manual handling and physical activity are daily requirements – samples can weigh in excess of 15kg
- You must be confident to work in a team environment
- Self-motivated, proactive and able to organise your own workload
- Previous experience in a UKAS accredited testing environment in a similar role
- Knowledge of testing standards and processes
- CSCS card

Salary & Benefits:
- Basic salary is £26,000 – £32,000 depending on the level of experience. Overtime is available after 40 hours and weekends at enhanced rates
