As our News Editor, you will work closely with our award‑winning editorial team to help lead its news output and build upon its excellent foundations, while having the chance to bring a fresh voice to Eurogamer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the coordination, sourcing, and prioritisation of daily news coverage.
  • Working closely with the team to report on announcements, conduct interviews, and investigate stories that matter to our readers.
  • Delivering accurate, clear, and concise copy to a deadline, following well-defined editorial standards, while also offering a fresh voice on our site.
  • Embedding within game communities to spot potential stories.
  • Following up assiduously with PRs, sources, and other contacts to go deeper on stories.
  • Working in our CMS to make sure stories meet a high standard of presentation.
  • Collaborating with the entire editorial team on all aspects of Eurogamer's coverage, including authoring the best puns in game journalism.

The Must-Haves

  • Demonstrable talent for good reporting.
  • Ability to unearth and tell interesting, original stories about games and their communities.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately edit news reporting, focusing on high standards and astute angles and headlines.
  • Willingness to secure on- and off-diary interviews and ask tough questions.
  • Potentially encyclopedic knowledge of video games from a range of genres.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
