Job Overview
Eurogamer has built a reputation for delivering some of the best editorial in the games industry, across news, reviews, features, and guides. As our News Editor, you will work closely with our award‑winning editorial team to help lead its news output and build upon its excellent foundations, while having the chance to bring a fresh voice to Eurogamer.
The News Editor will be responsible for selecting and writing stories our audience will love, editing news stories written by other team members, being prolific within tight deadlines, unearthing stories others have missed from gaming's many active communities, interviewing people from across the industry both in‑person at events and remotely, and developing sources to break stories first. The successful applicant will have section editor, news editor, or other senior editorial experience, with a background in published news writing — ideally within the games sector — and in particular a track record of originating new stories.
This role is based in London, with an expectation to work a hybrid schedule out of our office. The role generally follows a standard full‑time schedule, but due to the nature of the role, you may be required to work outside of normal hours from time to time for big stories and large releases. This role involves computer‑based work, which requires regular use of hands and vision.

- Working closely with the team to report on announcements, conduct interviews, and investigate stories that matter to our readers.

- Embedding within game communities to spot potential stories.
- Following up assiduously with PRs, sources, and other contacts to go deeper on stories.
- Working in our CMS to make sure stories meet a high standard of presentation.
- Collaborating with the entire editorial team on all aspects of Eurogamer's coverage, including authoring the best puns in game journalism.
