As a Registered Manager you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people, you won't find a more rewarding career. The successful candidate will be working Monday - Friday 9am until 5pm; however you may be required to work additional hours as required by the needs of the business and the young people we care for.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of the Children’s Residential home, ensuring high standards of care and compliance with regulations.
  • Lead and manage staff, providing supervision and support to enhance team performance.
  • Develop and implement care plans tailored to young people's needs.
  • Ensure proper medication administration and maintain accurate records.
  • Foster effective communication with the children in your care, families, local authority, social workers and other professionals to promote a collaborative care environment.
  • Utilise Microsoft Office tools for documentation and reporting purposes.
  • Provide consistent and high quality nurturing care experiences and opportunities for children and young people with a variety of individual needs.
  • Support, mentor and educate children in day to day activities to develop emotional, social and well-being.
  • Develop personal and practical skills to enhance independent living.
  • Encourage positive engagement with children and young adults.
  • Report and record key aspects of care, contributing to care plan and individualised plans and developing professional skills as part of ongoing development.
  • Manage complex and challenging behaviour.
  • Support engagement in in-house and offsite activities.
  • Safeguard children and young people & develop and maintain positive relationships within the home and with external professionals.
  • Have a good knowledge and understanding of children's development, including an awareness of different learning disabilities and social communication needs for children and young people.
  • Promote and support creative learning activities for children with additional needs.
  • Work in a positive, respectful, and empowering way with all children and young people to promote good relationships and encourage achievement.
  • Contribute to the provision of a positive, welcoming, nurturing and stimulating home environment for all children, visitors, and professionals.
  • Domestic duties, cooking and social activities and light maintenance of a family home.

Knowledge / Experience:

  • NVQ level 3 Diploma in relevant care/children & young people related area or equivalent or higher recognised qualification.

Key Task Areas and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the rota for care of children & young people team.
  • Personal care.
  • Organising and participating in appropriate activities.
  • Domestic duties.
  • Cooking and shopping.
  • Transporting to appointments and activities.
  • General upkeep and maintenance of the home.
  • Fulfil sleep-in duties in accordance with the agreed rota by the home manager.
  • Support and supervise the children and young people in the implementation of individual programmes of activities, life skills, key skills and independence skills including leisure in their Home and the community.
  • Support young people within the Home in accordance with their personal/pathway/placement, care plans and the policies, procedures and practices of the home.
  • Make accurate, clear and appropriate entries in young people's records, diaries and reports as necessary, in accordance with the home and local policies, procedures and practices.
  • Support and enable young people to maintain a level of personal hygiene through offering guidance and support to develop their independence; encouraging attending health appointments.
  • Work with and manage challenging behaviour, enabling young people to develop from needing external control to developing self-control.
  • Organise and participate in a wide variety of appropriate activities, encouraging physical exercise, improving confidence, self-esteem and independence.
  • Safeguard all young people within the Home and ensure their safety and wellbeing.
  • Administer medication in accordance with Company and Regulatory Body policies and procedures; ensure that medication is stored in a safe manner in accordance with policy.
  • Ensure effective record keeping of all financial transactions and ensure they are in accordance with individual placement agreements, and Company and Regulatory Body policies and procedures.
  • Organise and attend appointments as required.
  • Ensure that all the relevant personal/pathway/placement plans for young people are in place, accurate and up to date.
  • Work positively and effectively with relatives, advocates and other professionals that may be involved.
  • Support young people with completing and returning homework that has been set by education.
  • Communicate effectively with education staff to ensure a consistent approach and to provide a daily link between education and Home.
  • Ongoing self-development by completing mandatory and additional identified online, in house and external training.

Key Worker responsibilities:

  • Support the young people by acting as an internal advocate, involving them in every aspect of their care.
  • Completing weekly key work sessions with allocated key child or other young people within the home.
  • Key work sessions to be recorded and shared with the young people.
  • Support in the arrangements for contact and ensure that the young person's wishes and feelings are taken into account.

General:

  • Ensure awareness that the service operates to agreed budgets and contribute to keeping within these budgets as instructed.
  • Ensuring accurate logs and recordings.
  • Exercise vigilance in respect of Health and Safety and promptly report all hazards and/or remedying them where appropriate.
  • Undertake all duties in a manner calculated to minimise or avoid unnecessary risks, personally or to others.
  • Report issues and/or incidents relating to staff and young people that have arisen in the day promptly to the relevant Line Manager or appropriate person.
  • Operate at all times in accordance with Company policies and procedures, with particular reference to Safeguarding, Child Protection, Whistleblowing, Complaints and Representations and Behaviour Policies.
  • Participate in training and take responsibility for personal development.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervisions and annual reviews in accordance with home policies and the standards set by the Regulatory Body.
  • Work to promote the Home as a valued, professional asset within its community and conduct themselves at all times in a manner that reinforces this image.
  • Ensure that all actions are in the best interests of the young people and the wider organisation.
  • To carry out any other reasonable and relevant duties as required by the management of the home and wider management of the organisation.

Pay: 31,761.96-54,796.61 per year
