Registered Manager – Children\’s Residential Home (Iglu Cottage)

Location: Walsall, West Midlands

As the Registered Manager, you will be pivotal in overseeing the daily operations of our residential home, ensuring exceptional standards of care, compliance, and positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

The Registered Manager is accountable to the Responsible Individual and is responsible for all aspects of the home\’s operational and regulatory performance.

  • Operational Oversight: Oversee the daily operations of the Children\’s Residential home, ensuring consistently high standards of care and full compliance with the Children\’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
  • Leadership & Management: Lead, manage, supervise, and support the staff team to enhance performance, promote professional development, and foster a strong, collaborative ethos.
  • Care Planning: Develop, implement, and review personalised care plans tailored to meet the individual needs, emotional development, and educational goals of the young people.
  • Compliance & Administration: Maintain meticulous, up-to-date records, including medication administration, using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) for efficient documentation and reporting.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster effective communication and collaborative working relationships with young people, families, Local Authority representatives, Social Workers, and other professional networks.
  • Safeguarding: Ensure the home provides a physically and emotionally safe, nurturing environment, including adhering to safe holding/physical intervention policies.
  • On-Call Duties: Participate in the \’On-Call Manager\’ Rota, requiring availability to take calls out of hours.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Relevant Qualification: Diploma Level 3 in Children and Young Person\’s Workforce or equivalent.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years\’ work experience with children and young people within a residential environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years\’ experience at a senior level within a residential setting.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Up-to-date, strong knowledge of the current legislation governing the sector, particularly the Children\’s Homes Regulations 2015.
  • Inspections: Proven experience managing and successfully navigating Ofsted Inspections.
  • Meetings & Reporting: Experience attending professional meetings, preparing formal reports, and working effectively with multi-agency teams.
  • Driving: Full UK driving licence.

  • Flexibility to undertake shift work, including weekends and sleep-ins, as required.

Desirable Attributes

  • Management Qualification: Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification, Level 4 Registered Manager Award, or equivalent.
  • Therapeutic Experience: Understanding of attachment and trauma in relation to young people, or experience in a therapeutic setting.
  • Performance History: Proven track record of successful Ofsted inspection history and demonstrable success in the development of teams and individuals.

Pay: Β£31,761.96-Β£54,796.61 per year

Education:
