Reports to: Planning Manager

Salary: £35,000

Summary: You will be responsible for the effective planning of your nominated delivery depot. This will cover fleets of up to 50 vehicles per depot ranging from vans to artics. Working closely with drivers, depot staff, and customers, you will ensure that routes are optimised, compliance is maintained, and service levels are consistently met.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Plan and schedule vehicle routes to maximise efficiency and ensure timely deliveries across relevant planning depot.
  • Allocate drivers and vehicles in line with operational requirements and legal regulations (e.g. drivers' hours, Working Time Directive).
  • Liaise with customers, drivers, and depot teams to provide updates and maintain excellent service levels.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, health & safety standards, and industry legislation.
  • Produce transport reports and analyse performance to identify improvements.
  • Support the wider transport team with planning for peak periods and multi-depot coordination.

Key skills:

  • Experience with Paragon.
  • Previous experience in a transport planning role, ideally within multi-temperature or FMCG logistics.
  • Experience at planning at least 30 plus routes per day.
  • Strong knowledge of UK geography and routing systems.
  • Understanding of transport compliance, driver hours, and fleet operations.
  • Proficiency in transport management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
