The Role
As an MET Technician, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient strip-down and reassembly of vehicles in line with approved repair estimates and methods. You’ll play a key role in ensuring repairs are completed accurately, on time, and to the highest quality standards within a busy bodyshop environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Strip and refit vehicles in line with repair estimates, methods, and procedures
- Carry out all dismantling and reassembly work to a high standard, ensuring quality checks are completed throughout
- Identify and report any deviations from the estimate or repair methods to the estimator immediately
- Advise the Bodyshop Team Leader of any additional work identified during the repair process
- Ensure all work is completed within allocated repair times
- Check parts availability against estimates to prevent delays, returning unused parts for credit where applicable
- Supervise and support non-qualified staff when required
- Ensure all tools, equipment, and safety-related materials are in date and fit for purpose
- Maintain high housekeeping standards and comply with all health and safety regulations
- Undertake additional reasonable duties as required by management
Experience & Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an MET Technician role
- ATA accreditation preferred but not essential
- Strong understanding of bodyshop repair processes and methods
- Ability to work accurately from job cards and estimates
- Good attention to detail with a focus on quality and safety
- Able to work independently and as part of a wider bodyshop team
