We are looking for a Production Manager to join our client - a leading commercial vehicle company - based in Bicester. You will be responsible for leading on-site production teams, ensuring operational targets are achieved while driving continuous improvement across manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving efficiency, developing teams and ensuring production targets are delivered safely, on time and to the highest quality standards.

Role

  • Lead and manage on-site production teams to deliver operational targets.
  • Oversee production activities from initial build through to finished vehicle shipment.
  • Monitor and deliver key manufacturing KPIs including safety, quality, velocity and cost.
  • Work closely with Production Supervisors to maintain accurate reporting and visual performance management systems.
  • Coordinate with materials and supply teams to ensure production schedules are maintained.
  • Identify and manage potential issues within the build process to minimise disruption.
  • Support the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Work with engineering and maintenance teams to optimise manufacturing operations and facility performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies relating to quality, health & safety and environmental standards.

People Management

  • Lead and develop production supervisors and operational teams.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and identify training and development needs.
  • Conduct annual appraisals and set performance objectives.
  • Promote strong communication and engagement across the workforce.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a Production Manager or Manufacturing Manager role.
  • Strong leadership experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience managing operational KPIs and driving performance improvements.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
  • Experience within automotive, commercial vehicle, heavy engineering or manufacturing sectors would be advantageous.
