We are recruiting for an Automotive Production Duty Manager to join a large automotive operation based in Grimsby. This role will support the Production and Planning Managers in overseeing the day-to-day running of the site, ensuring operations run safely, efficiently and in line with operational targets. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading teams across production, logistics and compound operations while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and performance.
The Role:
- Support the Production and Planning Managers by acting as Duty Manager when required, overseeing site operations.
- Ensure health and safety standards are maintained across the site and address any non-conformances quickly.
- Oversee operational activity across production, compound movements, logistics and planning.
- Lead production teams to maximise vehicle completions across cosmetic, mechanical and imaging departments.
- Handle operational queries and complaints from internal and external stakeholders and resolve them professionally.
- Support ISO, security and compliance requirements across the site.
- Work with central administration teams to ensure operational performance targets are achieved.
- Manage relationships with third-party suppliers working on site.
- Identify trends or performance issues and work with senior management to monitor and improve KPIs.
People Management:
- Support the full employee lifecycle including onboarding, training and development.
- Conduct performance management, coaching and appraisals.
- Manage disciplinary and grievance procedures where required.
- Ensure effective workforce planning, including managing absence and staffing levels.
- Communicate operational priorities and performance updates to the team.
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience in a Team Leader, Supervisor or Line Manager role.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and lead a team to meet operational targets.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Experience within automotive operations, vehicle refurbishment, compound management or logistics environments would be advantageous.
