Job title: Press Officer, Children’s Trade
Reporting to: Senior Publicity Manager
Location: 5th Floor, HYLO, 105 Bunhill Row, London, EC1Y 8LZ
Working pattern: Hybrid – minimum of two days per week in the office; up to
three days per week working from home
Imprint: Across all children book imprints
Department: Publicity
Salary: £28,000 – £30,000 per annum, depending on experience
General Summary
An exciting opportunity has come up in the Bonnier Books UK children’s trade PR team for a dynamic PR professional who will be responsible for their own authors and campaigns, as well as some team administrative duties.
This position is ideal for a keen self-starter, with excellent organisational skills and a track record of delivering on or supporting impactful publicity campaigns and who is looking for the next step in their career. You will have a real passion for Children\’s publishing and an understanding of how to reach readers across the media and digital spheres, as well as ideally some picture book publicity experience.

Under the supervision of the senior publicity manager, you will plan, organise, and implement publicity campaigns for children’s titles. You will initiate and carry out campaigns, and you will be ready to learn, progress and grow on the job. This is a fun and busy role and requires an individual who can juggle numerous tasks, prioritise, and remain calm under pressure. You will be responsible for delivering publicity campaigns from across all our imprints from board books to YA.
Key Responsibilities

  • Create and deliver great publicity campaigns for a mix of titles across all our children’s imprints including Templar, Big Picture Press, Piccadilly Press, Studio Press, Hot Key Books and Ink Road
  • Administrative duties including submitting The Bookseller previews, managing award submissions, contributing to team PR updates, and general enquiries management
  • Draft press releases for trade and consumer media for book campaigns and organise review mailings and ad hoc review copies.
  • Pitch for and secure author profile slots across print, online, and broadcast media outlets around publication and continue to build strong relationships with media and influencers
  • Pitch and coordinate author events with book retailers and/or literary festivals. Book and coordinate travel logistics for book signing tours when required, assisting publicists and helping as needed
  • Work closely with colleagues, support across big campaigns and book launch events when required
  • Attend and present at inter-departmental campaigns and sales meetings
  • Represent the publicity team at relevant industry events, meetings and networking opportunities
  • A proactive team player driven to search for new contacts, ideas and opportunities that could benefit the division as a whole

Qualifications And Experience

  • Strong track record of delivering successful children’s publicity campaigns
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to work effectively and collaboratively with internal team members and external stakeholders
  • Ability to identify key components to create a successful campaign, deliver according to sales targets, and prioritise effectively
  • Experience of working in a busy press office and juggling multiple projects at once
