Application Deadline: March 21, 2025 Location: London Working Pattern: Hybrid – minimum of two days per week in the office; up to three days per week working from home Job Description Job title: Editorial Assistant Reports to: Publishing Director, Zaffre Department: Editorial Salary: £27,000 Per annum Zaffre is looking for an editorial assistant to join the flagship adult commercial fiction imprint. The successful candidate will work across the lists, home of T.M. Logan, Rosie Goodwin, Heather Morris, Lynda La Plante and other bestselling novelists. The ideal candidate for this role would be an energetic, organized, detail-oriented team player with a passion for books, literature and the wider world of book-related culture. This is a fantastic opportunity to become a valued member of a collaborative publishing team, where you’ll find out first-hand how the book-making process works and have the opportunity to work with a variety of authors from brands to debuts in all genres. Key Responsibilities Oversee the scheduling and editorial critical paths of Zaffre titles to ensure publication runs to schedule. Manage freelance copy editors and proof-readers, taking in corrections and working with the editorial team to manage changes and update manuscripts. Assist with setting titles up on Biblio. Report on submissions and contribute to discussions about potential new title acquisitions. Minuting team meetings and divisional meetings. Attend editorial and wider divisional meetings. Invoice processing. Implement and utilise all relevant editorial checklists. Act as a point of contact for author queries, resolving problems and answering questions promptly and accurately. Liaise with other members of the fiction team as well as colleagues from other departments such as production, design, marketing, and sales. Assist in securing endorsements for all titles. Send out proof and finished copies to authors, agents and media contacts. Send title information to literary festivals. Update reviews on Biblio for titles both pre-and post-publication. Write and edit marketing and cover copy and product descriptions, where appropriate. Assist with the development of new book projects by conducting market research. Additional administrative duties, as required. Qualifications And Experience An ambitious and creative self-starter with a passion for books. An interest in learning and developing editorial skills within a fast-paced and outward-looking department. Ability to manage jobs from inception to completion to the highest standard. Strong communication skills. Excellent organisation and time management. Works well under pressure. Well versed in essential Microsoft and/or Apple office packages.
