We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Health Advisor within the Human Resources Department based in Workington. Joining us on a permanent basis, in return you will receive a competitive salary.

Holmen Board and Paper is a Swedish company and a member of the Holmen Group. The Workington Mill produces premium paperboard under the brand Incada. Our paperboard is an integral part of the shopping experience for our clients' customers. Since 2013 we have powered the mill almost entirely by fossil fuel free energy. The Occupational Health Advisor will provide a full professional, caring and proactive Occupational Health service to the Company whilst adhering to industry best practice. Our Occupational Health Advisor will:

  • Advise the company about Occupational Health matters and take a proactive approach to promote the wellbeing of all employees.
  • Manage illness and injury of employees at work pending referral to other agencies.
  • Formulate departmental procedures to ensure that medical treatments, records and current legislation is adhered to and act as GDPR administrator for Occupational Health.
  • Advise the Company on pre-employment health screening and required workplace adjustments.
  • Conduct regular health screening for risk groups including (but not limited to) fork-lift truck drivers and crane operators.
  • Liaise with outside agencies as required including GPs and hospitals.
  • Report on agreed Key Performance Indicators.
  • Collaboratively work with HR and management.
  • Manage the departmental budget, ordering supplies and maintenance of equipment for the department.
  • Area Waste Holder for the department.

What we're looking for in our Occupational Health Advisor:

  • RGN (Registered General Nurse) qualification and 3 years practical work experience, working within the professional and legal code of practice, in accordance with the Royal College of Nursing and the Nursing and Midwifery Council UK.
  • Minimum diploma level qualification within Occupational Health.
