Role: CNC Programmer/QA Engineer
Contract: Initial 6 month contract
Rate: £300-£320 per day, Inside IR35
Location: In/around Birmingham preferred, but open to fully remote
We are supporting a well-known company in hiring a CAM or CNC Programmer to work on their Manufacturing (CAM) software. This is not a traditional QA role. The position is suited to someone with hands-on machining and CAM experience who is interested in working on the software side of manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Use Autodesk Fusion 360 or similar CAM software as an end user
- Create and test toolpaths across milling, turning, and multi-axis setups
- Manually test the software Fusion (manufacturing model)
- Identify issues in machining workflows and software behaviour
- Log and track defects using JIRA
- Work closely with developers, product managers, and design teams
- Support workshop-based testing where required
Requirements
- Experience as a CNC Programmer, CAM Programmer, or Manufacturing Engineer
- Strong understanding of machining processes (milling, turning, 3-axis or 5-axis)
- Experience with CAM software such as Fusion 360, PowerMill, NX, or similar
- Ability to assess workflows from a practical machining perspective
- Good communication skills and ability to work with technical teams
Desirable
- Familiarity with tools such as JIRA
- Understanding of Python and/or C++
- Sheetmetal and Nesting
