Monitoring Officer North of England | Hybrid Working We're working with a local authority looking to appoint a Monitoring Officer into a key leadership position.

This is one of those roles that sits at the heart of the organisation.

You'll be advising elected members and senior officers, safeguarding decision-making, and helping the Council navigate an increasingly complex governance and regulatory environment.

The successful candidate will be the organisation's lead adviser on governance, constitutional matters, standards and ethics.

You'll need the confidence to provide clear, independent advice, build credibility across the political spectrum and be comfortable operating where legal, commercial and public interest considerations meet.

We're interested in speaking with experienced local government lawyers who have already held Monitoring Officer responsibilities, or senior deputies looking to step into a broader leadership role.

The role would suit someone who enjoys working closely with senior stakeholders, values good governance and can balance sound judgement with a pragmatic approach to getting things done.
