About IG Group

IG has been at the centre of retail trading and investment since 1974, when we helped create the market for financial spread betting. Today, we’re a FTSE100 fintech operating across five continents, serving over 700,000 clients and handling billions in transactions – built on decades of scale, trust and proof. We didn’t pivot to innovation; it’s how we’ve always operated. What that means for the people who work here is real: genuinely complex problems to solve, the technology and resources to tackle them properly, and the kind of scope that’s rare in established businesses. The bar is high – bring a curious and forward‑thinking mindset and we’ll give you the platform to define what comes next.

About the Opportunity

Our core values – Champion the Client, Learn Fast Together, and Raise the Bar – drive our commitment to delivering innovative technology and exceptional client outcomes. Led by CEO Breon Corcoran, IG is undergoing significant transformation – including a strengthening of its second line risk function to reflect the scale, complexity, and global regulatory footprint of the business. The Enterprise Risk Director is a senior leadership role at the heart of IG’s second line of defence. You will be responsible for the design, ownership, and continuous evolution of IG’s enterprise‑wide risk management framework, providing independent oversight and challenge across all risk categories, ensuring IG operates within its Board‑approved risk appetite, and meeting the expectations of regulators across all global jurisdictions.

Enterprise Risk Framework

  • Own and continuously evolve IG’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, anticipating emerging risks across business lines, geographies, and regulatory jurisdictions.
  • Define and steward the Group’s risk taxonomy, risk appetite statements, and tolerance thresholds, working closely with the CRO, CFO, and Board Risk Committee.
  • Lead proactive, continuous review of risk appetite, staying ahead of shifts in the strategic plan, capital position, and the regulatory horizon.
  • Maintain the Group Risk Register as a live, dynamic management tool – ensuring material and emerging risks are accurately captured, owned, and subject to appropriate mitigating controls and escalation triggers.
  • Maintain oversight of the Group’s Material Controls framework to support the annual Board attestation.
  • Anticipate and track the evolving regulatory risk profile across the Group, working closely with Divisional Heads of Compliance to get ahead of change rather than react to it.

Governance, Reporting & Committee Leadership

  • Prepare and present forward‑looking Risk Reporting at the Executive Risk Committee (monthly) and to the Board Risk Committee (quarterly) and other relevant management committees.
  • Oversee the running of key risk governance forums, including the Executive Risk Committee, Risk Committee, and Conduct and Remuneration Risk Committee.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for internal audit, external auditors, and regulators on enterprise risk matters.
  • Maintain and develop the Risk function’s policies, procedures, and methodologies to reflect best practice and regulatory evolution.

Risk Culture & Organisation

  • Champion a strong risk culture across the organisation, promoting risk awareness and accountability at all levels through training, communication, and behavioural frameworks.
  • Partner with HR, Compliance, and business leadership to embed risk behaviours into performance frameworks, onboarding, and day‑to‑day operating practices.
  • Lead, develop, and inspire the Enterprise Risk team, setting clear expectations for quality, pace, and stakeholder engagement.

Regulatory & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as IG’s senior representative on enterprise risk matters in engagements with the FCA and other global regulators.
  • Build strong relationships with Divisional Risk leads, ensuring consistent application of the ERM framework across geographies.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Finance, and Internal Audit to ensure a joined‑up approach to risk identification, escalation, and remediation.

Key Deliverables & Outcomes

  • Maintain a robust, Board‑approved ERM framework that is consistently applied across all of IG’s business lines and jurisdictions.
  • Deliver high‑quality, insight‑led risk reporting to the Board Risk Committee and Executive Risk Committee on a regular cycle.
  • Lead a credible and well‑governed suite of risk governance forums, with clear escalation and decision‑making protocols.
  • Ensure the Group Risk Register is current, complete, and actively used as a management tool – not a compliance exercise.
  • Embed FCA Consumer Duty and Treating Customers Fairly within the ERM framework as live, evidenced obligations.
  • Drive measurable improvement in risk culture maturity across the organisation, evidenced through engagement data and audit findings.
  • Build and maintain a high‑performing Enterprise Risk team, with clear development pathways and strong stakeholder relationships.

Professional Experience

  • Significant progressive experience in enterprise or operational risk within a regulated financial services firm – ideally spanning both second line and senior leadership roles.
  • Deep knowledge of enterprise risk frameworks, risk appetite design, and risk taxonomy across a complex, multi‑entity group.
  • Strong command of UK regulatory requirements, particularly FCA expectations including Consumer Duty, SYSC, and SM&CR.
  • Proven experience preparing and presenting to Board‑level risk committees and engaging directly with regulators.
  • Experience leading or significantly contributing to risk governance forums at ExCo or Board level.
  • Track record of driving risk culture change in a large, globally distributed organisation.
  • Experience managing and developing risk teams, with evidence of building capability and raising standards.
  • Familiarity with international regulatory environments across IG’s key jurisdictions (Europe, APAC, North America) advantageous.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to set direction, prioritise, and operate with authority across a complex organisation.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills – able to distil complex risk topics into clear, Board‑ready narratives.
  • Strong stakeholder influencing skills, with the gravitas to challenge senior leaders and engage regulators with confidence.
  • Commercially minded – understands the business context in which risk operates and avoids being a blocker to growth.
  • Collaborative and credible – builds trusted relationships across the second and third lines, and with business leadership.
  • High standards for governance, documentation, and process rigour without being bureaucratic.
  • Embodies IG’s performance principles: Lead and Inspire, Think Big, Champion the Client, Deliver at Pace, and Raise the Bar.

Why IG Group?

  • Board‑Level Visibility: Own the enterprise risk narrative at the most senior levels of IG – shaping how the Board, CRO, and regulators understand and respond to risk across the Group.
  • Scope & Scale: A genuinely enterprise‑wide remit spanning 19 countries, multiple regulatory jurisdictions, and a diverse product and client base.
  • Risk Culture Leadership: A mandate to drive meaningful, lasting change in how risk awareness and accountability is embedded across the organisation.
  • Strategic Moment: Join at a pivotal point in IG’s transformation, with active investment in the second line function and strong leadership support for elevating risk management standards.
  • Career Trajectory: A platform for an ambitious risk leader to grow into a CRO or equivalent executive role within a FTSE 100 business.
