Your role in the Team
We’re looking for an experienced Observability Engineer to join our team and help us build a best-in-class Observability Platform using the latest technologies. You will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining our Observability Platform, as well as collaborating with other teams to ensure that our systems are reliable, performant and observable.
What you’ll do
- Designing, implementing and maintaining our Observability platform using tools such as OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus and Splunk.
- Developing instrumentation strategies to capture relevant telemetry data for comprehensive visibility.
- Utilising data visualisation tools to analyse trends, identify anomalies and diagnose issues proactively.
- Creating and optimising alerting systems to provide timely notifications for potential problems.
- Working in a DevOps environment, using continuous delivery best practices.
- Collaborating with developers and operations teams to translate insights into actionable improvements.
- Staying up-to-date on the latest observability trends and technologies.
- Mentoring and collaborating with other engineers to promote a culture of learning and innovation.
What you’ll need for this role
- Strong understanding of monitoring and logging concepts and tools (OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Splunk, Prometheus, SLOs).
- Experience with Continuous Delivery and best practices (Gitlab).
- Knowledge of distributed tracing concepts is a plus.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Critical thinking ability and proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Curiosity and willingness to learn.
- Passion for learning and staying ahead of the curve in the technology landscape.
Bonus points:
- Experience with cloud platforms (eg, AWS, GCP)
- Experience with containers (Nomad, Docker)
