Key responsibilities

  • Acting as Employer's Agent under JCT Design and Build contracts, managing the contract administration process from appointment to practical completion and final account
  • Leading project management delivery across a varied portfolio of residential, commercial and mixed-use schemes
  • Chairing progress meetings, managing programme, cost and risk, and reporting to clients and stakeholders
  • Reviewing contractor design submissions, valuations, variations and extension of time claims
  • Certifying practical completion, managing defects periods and final certificates
  • Supporting business development and maintaining client relationships across the Cambridge and wider East Anglia market
  • Line management and mentoring of junior project management staff, as appropriate to seniority

Candidate requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience acting as Employer's Agent, ideally under JCT Design and Build
  • Track record of project managing construction projects from inception through to completion
  • Strong working knowledge of construction contracts, cost control and programme management
  • Excellent client-facing and communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence, with willingness to travel to sites across the region

Desirable

  • MRICS, MCIOB or equivalent professional qualification (or working towards)
  • Degree in a construction-related discipline (quantity surveying, project management, construction management or similar)
  • Experience across a range of sectors, including residential, education, commercial and healthcare
  • NEC contract experience in addition to JCT

Package

  • Salary up to £70,000, dependent on experience and qualifications
