About the Role
This is an opportunity for an experienced indirect tax professional to take ownership of IG Group’s indirect tax compliance obligations, and playing a meaningful advisory role as the business continues to grow at pace. You will be the go-to expert on all indirect tax matters, partnering closely with Finance and Product teams, as well as external advisors globally, to ensure our tax positions are robust, commercially informed, and future-ready.
About the Team
IG’s Tax function is in London and reports directly to the CFO. The team is responsible for managing IG’s global tax position across all tax types. This role reports into the Head of Tax and will manage 1 direct report.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage IG’s global indirect tax compliance programme, ensuring accurate and timely VAT/GST & Betting Duty filings across all jurisdictions in which the Group operates.
- Provide commercially focused indirect tax advisory support on new products, business initiatives, and structural changes — working closely with Product and Finance teams to identify and manage tax risk early.
- Drive continuous improvement across indirect tax processes and systems, including leading on Making Tax Digital (MTD) compliance, and process automation.
- Partner with Finance/FP&A to ensure indirect tax positions are accurately reflected in financial reporting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.
- Develop and maintain a robust indirect tax risk and controls framework, ensuring the Group’s tax governance obligations are met across all regions.
- Line manage 1 mixed-tax professional, fostering a high-quality, delivery-focused team culture.
Role Requirements
- Significant in-house indirect tax experience, ideally within financial services / fintech.
- Deep technical knowledge of VAT/GST across multiple geographies, with demonstrable experience managing global compliance programmes.
- Exposure to indirect tax advisory in the context of new product development and geographic expansion.
- Track record of driving process improvement and implementing technology solutions to enhance indirect tax compliance and reporting.
- Experience managing external advisors and tax authority relationships, including audits and enquiries.
- Knowledge of e-invoicing requirements and emerging global indirect tax compliance trends.
- Experience managing and developing junior team members.
- CTA/ACA or similar.
