IG has been at the centre of retail trading and investment since 1974, when we helped create the market for financial spread betting. Today, we're a FTSE100 fintech operating across five continents, serving over 700,000 clients and handling billions in transactions - built on decades of scale, trust and proof. We didn't pivot to innovation; it's how we've always operated. What that means for the people who work here is real: genuinely complex problems to solve, the technology and resources to tackle them properly, and the kind of scope that’s rare in established businesses. The bar is high - bring a curious and forward-thinking mindset and we'll give you the platform to define what comes next. Join us at IG – the future gets built here.

Your focus will be enabling IG to gain optimal value from the Data we create, hold and process. You’ll work with stakeholders at every level to help shape a vision and strategy to help IG build world class tools and processes that enable us to leverage our data to create insights, make decisions and identify opportunities. You’ll drive the adoption of enabling data tools to bring the value in our data to everyone at IG.

To do this, you’ll work with our Data Engineering teams in India, the UK and elsewhere to shape our Roadmaps and Product Backlogs, prioritising the products and services we’ll build to realise our future vision. You’ll understand the importance of balancing the development of capabilities, products and services whilst ensuring our teams have the space and time to make our platforms robust, performant and less limited by technical debt.

You’ll have evidence of working with Cloud Data platforms like Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and be able to help create context and understanding with non-technical stakeholders and engineers alike. You’ll be able to hold a technical conversation at a level that demonstrates an understanding of first principles with engineers and technical leaders.

You’ll work with other Product Managers right across IG to organise and slice areas of focus, together prioritising, planning and iterating on your product areas to solve valuable problems.

You’ll work alongside other areas of IG such as Data Science, AI and Infrastructure to collaborate and combine effort to build value. You’ll be ready to compromise pragmatically and positively to help iteratively grow our processes at a time of change, helping us make progress in a challenging mix of dependencies, multiple projects and dynamic team resource profile.

You’ll be able to define and communicate clearly, the ‘why’ of your vision and have a laser focus on understanding the needs of your customers. Data is a highly complex, technical area where many of the products and services we’ll build overlap and complement one another. Therefore you’ll be able to understand architectural concepts and collaborate with engineering colleagues to understand the solutions that are shaped.

You’ll also need to work closely with the Product team to achieve your product vision in a collaborative way, achieving not only your objectives but helping team members identify and create compelling cross cutting services so we grow as a whole. With your steer, the Data area will evolve and change over time. Some of the solutions we define, or areas we’ll iterate on will begin as loosely defined objectives, that you’ll shape to grow into a rich Data ecosystem that helps IG grow at pace.

What you'll do:

  • Define & communicate a Product Vision for Data
  • Define & communicate a Product Roadmap(s) for Data
  • Manage & prioritise your Product Backlog(s)
  • Manage & create Epics, Stories, Spikes etc (Product Backlog Items as defined by the team). Collaborate with engineers and architects to create & refine these.
  • Engage & collaborate with Stakeholders to achieve Product Vision
  • Engage & collaborate with Data Science and Engineering communities to collaborate, provide visibility of prioritisation and progress.
  • Establish a cadence of ceremonies/meetings/workshops to drive progress with both the teams delivering your product vision, and your customers & stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Architecture to achieve your Vision for Data
  • Collaborate with Product Management to achieve your Product Vision and define a wider Strategy.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Architecture on improvements to ways of working and process.
  • Collaborate with Project and Programme management where needed to drive and deliver data outcomes or where there are dependencies on doing so.
  • Help drive Product Management culture, mindset & principles by advocating for improvement and sharing methods, principles, and practice.
  • Share learned knowledge, practices, and methods to help the Product team grow.
  • Help shape and define metrics we can use to measure progress both in terms of product / service impact and progress.
  • Collaborate with Delivery Managers/Engineering Leads to plan iterations, prioritise work and allocate people in our teams to achieve your Product Vision
  • Define and communicate to the team and stakeholders, the users/customers of your products & services to better align your vision with valuable unmet needs.
  • Help Product and Platform leadership define and execute an iterative strategy that enables IG teams to build better products using common platform services.
  • Engage with vendors and 3rd parties where needed to help bring to IG the best commercial partners to help achieve your Product Vision.

Where you’ll work:

We follow a hybrid working model; we reckon it’s the best of both worlds. This model also feeds into our secret ingredients for innovation: diversity, flexibility, and close connection. Plus, you’ll be welcomed into a diverse and inclusive workforce with a lot of creative energy.
