Overview
In this role you will support the day-to-day management of IG Smart Portfolios and contribute to the expansion into thematic investing.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure portfolios stay aligned with mandates, while delivering timely risk, attribution and performance insights.
The role combines hands-on operations, client-facing material, and investment commentary to support IG’s managed portfolio service.

Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day management of model portfolios across risk profiles to ensure alignment with mandate, risk targets, and asset allocation
- Execute portfolio rebalancing with high accuracy and control
- Contribute to ETF selection and ongoing due diligence
- Serve as the investment SME for client experience teams and handle queries across Smart Portfolios, share dealing and incentives
- Collaborate with asset servicing and technology to specify, build, and test system changes with no regressions to workflows
- Maintain and develop portfolio risk and volatility models, including covariance matrix and risk decomposition
- Produce performance attribution and break down returns by asset class and allocation decision
- Own the monthly reporting cycle and deliver timely analytics to stakeholders and governance forums
- Improve reporting frameworks and analytical tooling for accuracy and efficiency
- Write monthly investment commentary on markets, portfolio positioning and performance
- Produce client investment material and educational content; update performance charts for marketing material
- Ensure all commentary and client-facing material pass compliance before release
- Key requirements
- Strong Excel modelling skills and familiarity with Bloomberg
- Working knowledge of ETFs, asset allocation, and risk metrics (volatility, tracking error, risk contribution)
- Clear written English and ability to explain investment performance to a retail audience
- Care and accuracy in operational work with sound judgement about escalation
