The Senior KYC Onboarding Specialist is a critical role within the organisation, responsible for managing complex customer onboarding activities and acting as a subject matter expert across AML, KYC, and client due diligence processes. The Senior KYC Onboarding Specialist would play a key role within the team utilising their experience in the AML/KYC space in onboarding Corporate, Institutional and Intermediary clients as well as providing support and guidance to the KYC Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough and accurate Client Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) reviews in accordance with AML/KYC regulations, internal policies, and risk frameworks.
  • Independently manage complex, high-risk, and non-standard onboarding cases, applying a risk-based approach and exercising sound judgement in decision making.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve complex onboarding challenges, escalating matters where appropriate and working closely with the business to achieve suitable outcomes.
  • Act as a senior point of contact for onboarding-related queries and escalations, providing expert advice and guidance to both internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for AML/KYC and onboarding matters, providing support and guidance to colleagues on complex cases and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with management reporting, MI production, audit activities and operational performance reviews, providing data-driven insights and recommendations where appropriate.
  • Mentor and coach junior team members, sharing knowledge, promoting best practice, and contributing to the development of team capability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve onboarding processes, controls, and customer experience, leading initiatives that enhance efficiency and reduce operational risk.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of onboarding activities within internal systems, ensuring data integrity and audit readiness.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Significant experience within Financial Services, Payments, FinTech, Banking, or another regulated industry, with a strong background in AML/KYC/CDD onboarding teams.
  • Proven ability to independently manage and resolve highly complex onboarding cases with minimal supervision through application of a risk-based approach.
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to identify risks, assess complex scenarios, and make informed risk-based decisions.
  • Advanced understanding of AML regulations, CDD, EDD, sanctions, adverse media screening, ownership structures, and financial crime risk management.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; experience using relevant Screening and CRM platforms.
  • A true team player with a winning mentality and strong work ethic committed to continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Adaptable, tenacious and flexible who is able to perform under pressure.
  • ACAMs or ICA certifications are highly desirable.
