Role Overview

IFPI is seeking a Regional Charts & Certifications Analyst – Asia to join IFPI’s Global Data & Analysis Team and drive our charts and certifications strategy across Southeast Asia, India, Japan and South Korea, some of the world’s most dynamic music markets. You will help strengthen consistent, credible and high-quality industry programmes across the region.

In this role, you will take ownership of day-to-day regional chart operations and help design and launch an ambitious new regional certifications programme. Working closely with IFPI colleagues, national groups, local industry associations, record companies, DSPs and chart partners, you will ensure that programmes are delivered accurately, consistently and in line with IFPI standards.

Sitting across data, strategy and music culture, you will turn complex market data into compelling insights and narratives for senior music executives. This varied role combines data analysis, programme delivery, stakeholder management, research, presentation development and creative problem-solving. It would suit someone who is highly numerate and organised, communicates clearly and confidently, and can translate complex data and methodology into concise, engaging materials for technical and senior audiences alike.

A genuine passion for music is essential: we are looking for someone who actively follows regional artists and repertoire and is curious about how music is discovered, consumed and celebrated across different markets. You will bring that enthusiasm to trusted charts and certification programmes with real relevance and impact for artists, labels and fans.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of National Charts & Certifications, the primary responsibilities of the Asia Regional Charts & Certifications Analyst include:

  • Driving regional chart operations: oversee weekly chart performance and delivery across Southeast Asia and India, while collaborating with chart and industry partners in Japan and South Korea.
  • Protecting chart quality and integrity: perform rigorous quality-assurance checks, review datasets, detect anomalies, investigate issues and work with internal and external partners to resolve them promptly.
  • Delivering high-impact insights: writing and distributing weekly chart insight reports for the Official Southeast Asia Charts to senior music executives, highlighting top-performing repertoire and market dynamics.
  • Leading regional rollouts by driving the end-to-end launch of new official charts, from initial concept, planning and stakeholder engagement through to methodology development, testing, go-live and ongoing delivery, in line with IFPI best practice.
  • Acting as the team’s subject-matter expert on charts across Asia, providing regional knowledge, guidance and support to colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Rolling‑out an industry leading certifications programme, helping design and embed a new regional certification framework, including research, data analysis, threshold modelling, methodology, documentation and implementation planning.
  • Building strong, collaborative stakeholder relationships with IFPI national groups, local industry associations, record companies, DSPs, chart compilers and other partners across Asia.
  • Responding clearly and professionally to queries from senior global and regional stakeholders, exercising sound judgement and escalating material issues where appropriate.
  • Creating polished, visually engaging executive presentations and concise, accurate briefings, guidance and updates for senior stakeholders, committees and regional industry forums.
  • Coordinating projects across multiple markets, maintaining clear plans and records, managing competing deadlines and ensuring that agreed actions are delivered.
  • Promoting best practice in chart integrity, including monitoring streaming anomalies, tracking AI-generated content and supporting the accurate representation of market economics.
  • Amplifying industry impact, pitching and delivering ambitious, creative ideas to increase chart visibility, impact and commercial potential through events, awards shows, radio and broadcast partnerships, and other collaborations.

Please note: the duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive. This job description is subject to review to ensure that it reflects the strategic direction and requirements of IFPI.

Key Requirements

  • 2-4 years relevant professional experience in data analysis, music charts and/or certifications, research, project delivery, or a data-intensive music, media or technology environment.
  • A genuine passion for Asian music culture, with active curiosity about regional artists, repertoire and music consumption trends across Southeast Asia, India, Japan and South Korea.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and confidence working with large or complex datasets.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with proven experience analysing, cleaning, quality-checking and visualising large datasets from multiple sources.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data, methodologies and operational issues into clear explanations and concise executive summaries for specialist and non-specialist audiences.
  • Advanced PowerPoint and presentation-development skills, with the ability to create polished, concise and visually engaging materials for senior audiences.
  • Proven experience engaging with senior internal and external stakeholders and building constructive relationships across different organisations, markets and cultures.
  • Strong organisational and project-management skills: organised, agile and comfortable managing competing priorities and recurring deadlines, working accurately and following issues through to resolution.
  • A positive, proactive and collaborative attitude, with a willingness to learn, support colleagues, take ownership and approach challenges with practical and creative solutions.
  • Professional judgement, cultural awareness and the flexibility to work effectively in a fast-paced international environment.

What will make you stand out?

  • Previous experience in the recorded music industry, music charts, certifications, digital music services or rights-management organisations.
  • Professional experience or detailed market knowledge relating to one or more of Southeast Asia, India, Japan or South Korea.
  • Fluency in one or more Asian languages.
  • Experience developing methodologies, thresholds or quality-control frameworks, including operational guidance and data-quality processes.
  • Experience or enthusiasm for using AI tools, including Microsoft Copilot, to streamline analytical, reporting and administrative workflows.
