As an Engineering Lead, you will join a high performing Technology and Data organisation, leading multiple engineering teams across a range of strategic projects. You will work closely with Product, Quality Assurance, fellow engineering leaders, and cross functional teams to deliver scalable solutions that meet business needs, quality expectations, and long term technical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply software and data engineering best practices to build maintainable, scalable, reliable, and secure solutions.
- Ensure timely delivery of high quality software with a strong focus on user experience and long term sustainability.
- Communicate progress, risks, challenges, and technical trade offs clearly to stakeholders.
- Lead, mentor, and develop engineers while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and ownership.
- Balance strategic leadership with a hands on approach, able to dive into the code when needed.
- Act as a visible and approachable leader, removing bottlenecks and enabling teams to perform at their best.
- Maintain strong engineering standards through code reviews, testing, and best practice driven delivery.
- Promote continuous improvement across engineering processes, tools, and team capability.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and assess pragmatic adoption opportunities.
- Embed AI, automation, and modern DevOps practices to improve speed, quality, and delivery outcomes.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of modern architecture patterns, including service oriented architecture and microservices.
- Strong cloud native development experience with AWS services, such as Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, EC2, S3, RDS Aurora, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, Athena, CloudWatch, CloudFormation.
- Solid DevOps expertise including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and containerisation.
- Proven experience delivering applications in Agile environments.
- Strong hands on background building .NET/C# and Angular web applications.
- Advocate of SOLID principles and modern design patterns.
- Strong database experience across SQL and NoSQL systems.
- Experience with observability, monitoring, alerting, and instrumentation.
- Excellent problem solving mindset with a practical, delivery focused approach.
- Exposure to AI/ML tools as part of the modern software engineering toolkit.
- Strong communication skills, able to collaborate across technical and non technical stakeholders.
- Desirable: experience building or extending trading or financial platforms.
