Key Responsibilities
- Clinical and Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain clinical areas, equipment, and instruments in a clean, tidy, and sterile condition according to health and safety and infection control procedures, following manufacturers' instructions.
- Use all equipment and machinery in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, ensuring regular maintenance and proper working order.
- Be fully trained and competent in using surgery machinery and demonstrate the importance of cleanliness and safety in the surgery.
- Ensure adequate stock levels and materials within the surgery and maintain laboratory records, including request forms and items sent, received, and fitted.
- Patient Care and Confidentiality
- Provide chair-side assistance, ensuring the correct equipment is available and that patients receive friendly, helpful, and courteous care.
- Accurately complete patient clinical records and always maintain strict confidentiality.
- Display a reassuring, empathetic chairside manner, particularly with nervous or difficult patients, and maintain communication throughout their visit.
- Health and Safety Compliance
- Familiarise yourself and comply with all health and safety guidelines, including PPE, COSHH, mercury handling, infection control, and waste disposal.
- Handle all substances according to Health and Safety policies, taking proactive steps to ensure safety measures are followed.
- Stay up to date with health and safety rules, especially regarding medical emergencies and CPR.
- Administrative Support and Documentation
- Complete patient and other documentation accurately and efficiently.
- Proactively manage stock levels and order supplies as necessary.
- Attend practice meetings, contribute positively, and share ideas constructively with the team.
- Training and Team Collaboration
- Undergo required training to develop your skills and stay current with industry developments.
- Support other team members and willingly accept additional workload when required.
- Demonstrate initiative in developing personal skills and responding positively to development opportunities.
- Build strong working relationships, supporting team goals and ensuring smooth practice operations.
- Personal and Professional Development
- Remain calm and work effectively under pressure or stress.
- Actively engage in improving personal performance and maintaining awareness of company policies and developments in the dental industry.
