Main Responsibilities:
- Microbiological Media Preparation: Prepare and quality control microbiological media, and manage orders.
- Laboratory Setup: Set up the microbiological laboratory for testing.
- Reagents Preparation: Prepare necessary reagents for testing.
- Sample Preparation: Prepare samples for testing, including booking into the system and weighing.
- Stock Monitoring: Monitor stocks of consumables within the laboratory.
- Equipment Checks: Perform daily equipment temperature checks.
- General Assistance: Assist with other tasks as needed.
- Microbiological Testing: Conduct simple microbiological tests.
- Results Entry: Enter test results into the system.
- Work Area Maintenance: Maintain clean and tidy work areas, ensuring they are well-stocked with lab consumables.
- Equipment Calibration: Perform routine internal calibration of equipment and arrange external calibration, maintaining accurate records.
- Sensory Panels Management: Manage and prepare multiple sensory panels throughout the day.
- Flavor Retention System: Use the flavor retention system for sensory evaluations.
- System Maintenance: Maintain retain and Gold Standard systems.
- Sample Ordering: Order retain samples from affiliate sites.
Requirements:
- Experience: Some experience in a lab environment or microbiology (academic or commercial/industrial) is beneficial but not required; training will be provided.
- Education: A-level science discipline or equivalent is desirable/preferred.
- Skills: Self-motivated, able to work under pressure, and organise work independently. Interest in microbiology and desire to work in a laboratory. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Proficiency in MS Word and Excel. SAP experience is helpful.
