Role Purpose
The Group Procurement Manager will take ownership of all procurement activity across three businesses within the group. The role will drive cost reduction, supplier consolidation, contract optimisation, and commercial control across operational and head‑office categories. This is a newly created, high‑impact role designed to bring structure, visibility, and strategic procurement discipline to a multi‑site, multi‑business environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Group‑wide Procurement Strategy
- Build and implement a unified procurement strategy across all three businesses.
- Introduce consistent processes, controls, and reporting.
- Identify opportunities for group buying, volume leverage, and long‑term savings.
- Supplier Consolidation & Contract Management
- Review all existing suppliers, contracts, and spend categories.
- Reduce supplier numbers, eliminate duplication, and negotiate improved terms.
- Implement preferred supplier lists and framework agreements.
- Ensure compliance with agreed contracts across all sites.
- Operational Procurement – Parts & Consumables
- Responsible for high‑volume, business‑critical categories including:
- Tyres
- Oils & lubricants
- Vehicle consumables
- Workshop supplies
- Metals, steel, aluminium and fabrication materials for the bodybuilding business
- Tools, PPE, and engineering consumables
- Lead procurement for all central cost lines:
- IT hardware, software, telecoms
- Facilities management & maintenance
- Utilities (gas, electricity, water)
- Cleaning, security, waste management
- Professional services & insurance
- Fleet, leasing, and rental agreements
- Build a clear view of group spend, supplier performance, and contract status.
- Introduce KPIs, dashboards, and monthly reporting packs.
- Track savings, compliance, and risk exposure.
- Work closely with MDs, Finance, Operations, Workshop Managers, and Body‑Build teams.
- Support site managers with local purchasing needs while enforcing group standards.
- Act as the commercial lead for all major negotiations.
- Ensure all procurement activity meets legal, environmental, and financial standards.
- Introduce supplier audits, performance reviews, and risk assessments.
- Strengthen controls around PO processes, approvals, and contract storage.
About You
- Proven experience in procurement, category management, or commercial buying.
- Background in automotive, transport, manufacturing, engineering, or FMCG preferred.
- Strong negotiator with experience reducing supplier numbers and improving contract value.
- Comfortable working across multiple sites with varied operational needs.
- Analytical, structured, and commercially sharp.
- Able to build relationships at all levels — from workshop teams to senior leadership.
Locations & Travel
Multi‑site role covering:
- Commercial vehicle sales & service site (Yorkshire)
- Vehicle bodybuilding & fabrication site (Manchester)
- Vehicle assistance & support site (Doncaster)
Regular travel required across sites.
