The Story

We’re at a pivotal moment. Industry-wide transformation is happening, and we need someone who can help us navigate it with technical excellence and strategic vision. A forward-thinking organization is embarking on an ambitious transformation journey. With major deliverables, system upgrades, and data warehouse implementation on the horizon, they’re looking for someone exceptional to lead the charge. This isn’t your typical Finance Transformation Business Analyst role. This is about rolling up your sleeves, diving deep into complex financial data, and building the foundations for future success.

The Opportunity

We’re giving someone the license to come in and really own these transformation projects. You’ll be leading initiatives that directly impact our future capabilities - not getting lost in a large corporate machine. You’ll be a segregated resource - 100% focused on high-impact projects without the distraction of month-end processes or BAU activities. Your mission? Deliver critical transformation initiatives across:

  • Data warehouse implementation - Building from the ground up
  • Financial / Technical Accounting reporting projects - Complex compliance requirements
  • Accounting implementation - Technical accounting expertise required
  • Core system upgrades - Major operating system transformation
  • Process redesign - Reimagining data flows and eliminating inefficiencies

The Technical Challenge

Working with substantial datasets across key service lines, you’ll need to:

  • Define and document data lineages and definitions
  • Perform complex calculations and transformations (not just aggregation)
  • Build and develop in Power BI (not just use it)
  • Create SQL solutions for data consolidation
  • Design tactical data solutions that deliver immediate value
  • Retire legacy spreadsheets through intelligent consolidation

We need someone who can take a blank sheet of paper and reimagine how we handle data. There are easy wins to be had, and we’re looking for someone with the vision and technical skills to set us on the right trajectory.

Who You Are:

The Non-Negotiables

  • Finance Background
  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) OR Strong finance function experience with deep accounting knowledge
  • Understanding of financial transactions, reporting, and controls
  • Ability to speak the language of accountants & finance teams

Technical Powerhouse

  • Power BI expert - Building, creating, developing (not just consuming)
  • Advanced Excel - Complex modeling and consolidation
  • Data architecture thinking - Understanding how systems integrate and data flows

Project Delivery

  • Proven track record in transformation/change environments
  • Comfortable working with technical accounting and/or compliance requirements
  • Ability to distill technical complexity into actionable solutions

Your Personality

We’re looking for a self-starter who won’t need hand-holding. Someone who takes ownership, drives projects forward, and keeps leadership informed rather than waiting to be managed day-to-day. You’re someone who:

  • Takes initiative and runs with it
  • Thrives on autonomy and ownership
  • Can work independently in a smaller, agile organisation
  • Communicates complex concepts clearly to stakeholders
  • Shows learning agility when facing new challenges
  • Thinks strategically while delivering tactically

What Makes This Different

  • Pure project focus - No month-end distractions, no BAU firefighting
  • Real impact - See the direct results of your work
  • Technical freedom - Design solutions your way
  • Senior exposure - Direct collaboration with leadership

This is about delivering tangible results this year while setting the foundation for our strategic data and MI capabilities in future years. You’ll have the freedom to focus on what matters.

The Practicalities

Contract Options

  • Fixed-term contract: c£52,000 - £62,000 per annum OR Day rate: £275-325 per day (negotiable based on experience)
