Very few genuinely offer it. This one does. Why this role? Because opportunities to genuinely shape a Finance function don't come along every day. You’ll join a business that values trust, accountability and doing the right thing. You’ll have the chance to influence commercial decisions, lead change, develop people and play a visible role in the company’s future success.

Setting the scene: At a time of significant transformation, this business is redefining what finance looks like. Moving away from manual processes, embracing automation and building a function that drives performance across the organisation. They’re looking for a Commercial Finance Manager who wants to be at the centre of that journey.

This is a role for a qualified accountant who thrives in the space between Finance and Operations. You’ll work closely with Engineering and business leaders, helping them understand performance, challenge assumptions, improve decision‑making and ultimately drive better commercial outcomes. You’ll be the person people turn to when they need clarity, insight and perspective.

The opportunity: The business is investing heavily in its future. Processes that have historically been manual are being modernised. Automation and AI are becoming part of the Finance strategy. Reporting is evolving from backward‑looking analysis to real‑time commercial insight. As Commercial Finance Manager, you’ll play a central role in that transformation. You’ll take ownership of key areas of financial performance, improve visibility around costs and profitability, develop meaningful project and margin analysis, and help leaders across the business make better‑informed decisions. Just as importantly, you’ll help shape what Finance becomes next.

What you’ll be doing: You’ll partner closely with operational and Engineering teams, acting as both trusted adviser and constructive challenger. You’ll lead budgeting, forecasting and scenario planning, bringing commercial thinking into every conversation. You’ll own key areas of management reporting and performance analysis, providing insight that drives action rather than simply reporting results. You’ll help improve project costing, strengthen financial controls, increase accountability across the business and identify opportunities to improve profitability. Alongside this, you’ll be a key contributor to Finance transformation initiatives, helping introduce smarter processes, automation and more efficient ways of working.

What we’re looking for: You’re a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with strong commercial instincts and the confidence to influence senior stakeholders. You’ve probably spent time partnering with operational teams and understand how to translate financial information into meaningful business decisions. You enjoy improving processes, challenging the status quo and finding better ways to work. Most importantly, you’re someone who wants your contribution to be seen and felt across a business, not hidden away behind reports and spreadsheets. Experience within Engineering, project-based environments, stock or WIP‑led businesses would be advantageous. That said mindset, commercial curiosity and leadership capability are what will set you apart.
