Job Description for IFEAT Education Programme Lead
Working from your home office, generally from 9am to 5.30pm from Monday to Friday, you will support IFEAT as the Education Programme Lead. You will report to the IFEAT Education Officer in the first instance then to the Chief Administrative Officer (personnel matters) and IFEAT Education Committee Chair (tasks), with overall reporting to the IFEAT Executive Committee Chair.

Overview
The Education Programme Lead will play a key role in managing, developing, and delivering the remote, asynchronous professional development programme for ICATS (the International Centre for Aroma Trades Studies), an Education arm of IFEAT. This role focuses on student support, quality assurance, programme development, and industry engagement to ensure a high-quality learning experience. The postholder `will work closely with students, tutors, mentors, and stakeholders to maintain academic excellence and continuous programme improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership
- Act as the designated Personal Academic Tutor, overseeing student progress and academic performance.
- Supervise, teach, and assess student work, including marking and moderating assessments to ensure quality and consistency.
- Provide personalised tutoring, pastoral care, and ongoing academic support to students.
- Evaluate and respond to external examiner reports and student feedback to improve the learning experience.
- Design and implement educational procedures and policies whilst ensuring compliance with GDPR and academic regulations.
- Research and apply best practices in remote learning and education.
- Develop and maintain the Pathwright learning platform to enhance student engagement.
- Support the design and development of new courses and units.
Student Services
- Manage student records and maintain an efficient student registry.
- Handle student enquiries, providing timely and appropriate support.
- Assess student applications to ensure eligibility and programme fit.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance and expand student services.
- Welcome new students and provide academic and administrative guidance.
- Develop and manage the student academic appeals process.
- Provide educational guidance, counselling, and disciplinary support in line with policy.
- Prepare student reports.
- Attend relevant events.
Tutors and Mentors
- Support in the on-boarding of tutors, mentors, and course authors to ensure successful engagement.
- Maintain and update the mentor, tutor, and author databases.
- Collect and analyse mentor and tutor feedback to refine the education process.
Learning Material Development
- Commission authors, tutors, and collaborators to develop high-quality course content.
- Update and refine the curriculum to ensure relevance and alignment with industry standards.
- Review, develop, and create new course units to expand programme offerings.
- Develop customised learning resources, including short videos, podcasts, and interactive elements.
Communications & Outreach
- Support the marketing of Education programmes.
- Support in the maintenance and updating of website content.
- Develop standard communication templates and draft professional correspondence.
- Assist with PR and social media activities to promote programme visibility and engagement.
Finance & Resource Management
- Manage expense claims and student payment processes.
- Assist with the Education budget.
- Order necessary supplies and consumables to support programme delivery.
Event Coordination
- Attend in-person and online events.
- Plan and coordinate platform events for students and collaborators.
- Support Student Study Tours.
Market Research & Collaboration
- Assess the competitive landscape of remote courses in the Aroma Trades.
- Identify and engage potential collaborators.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Liaise with students, mentors, tutors, IFEAT Members, and the Executive Committee to support programme success.
Technology & Learning Management
- Train users on the learning platform and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Evaluate and implement tools to enhance digital learning experiences.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure courses meet quality standards in anticipation of accreditation requirements with UK HEIs.
- Conduct reviews of content, delivery, and outcomes to maintain excellence.
- Participate in quality assurance and strategic planning.
Data & Reporting
- Analyse student performance, engagement, and retention metrics.
- Write reports on industry events attended.
- Prepare detailed programme performance reports for the Executive Committee and for IFEAT Members at the annual Conference.
Professional Development
- Undertake research and scholarly activities to stay updated on industry needs.
- Establish and maintain industry links to support subject-related professional activities.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with external collaborators and IFEAT Members.
- Stay informed on trends in remote education.
Diversity & Inclusion
- Foster inclusivity in courses and mentorships, ensuring diverse and accessible learning materials.
Crisis & Risk Management
- Resolve escalated concerns and develop strategies to manage potential disruptions in programme delivery.
