Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer-Nash, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home.

We are searching for self-starting consultants with fire engineering experience; previous work in high-risk industries would be advantageous. You will join a team of experienced engineering consultants who specialise in a broad range of safety disciplines. This role will provide opportunities to work in sectors such as nuclear, defence, aerospace and new markets relating to clean energy systems and renewables (e.g. hydrogen, and lithium-ion battery energy storage). Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a high-quality fire engineering service to our clients.
  • Interact directly with a variety of clients across several highly regulated sectors (e.g. nuclear energy, defence, rail).
  • Plan and deliver work in an organised way, including attending client sites across the UK where required.
  • Carry out technical work in many areas of fire engineering e.g. fire strategies, fire testing, fire system design, fire safety case.
  • Project manage a variety of projects with accountability for resource and budgets.
  • Contribute to business development and manage enquiries with both new and existing clients.
Requirements

Successful applicants will meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in a science, engineering or maths subject (or equivalent).
  • Extensive fire engineering experience (desired in high-hazard or highly regulated industries e.g. nuclear, petrochemicals, defence).
  • Experience producing fire strategies for complex facilities.
  • Expertise with UK fire safety legislation, Building Regulations, British Standards, and latest industry guidance.
  • Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) or be demonstrably working towards this.

It is to your advantage if you meet any of the following additional requirements:

  • Accredited degree (BEng/MEng) in Fire Engineering or (or equivalent discipline).
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or be demonstrably working towards this, through the IFE.
  • Experience of working within a consultancy.
  • Experience of working on large multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Knowledge of safety cases in high-risk industries.
  • Experience of fire modelling, such as CFAST or FDS.
  • Experience of undertaking DSEAR assessments.
  • Knowledge of clean energy systems such as hydrogen, and lithium battery storage.

Due to the nature of the work that Frazer-Nash Consultancy undertakes, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
