Are you passionate about protecting lives, buildings and communities? We are seeking an experienced Fire Safety Officer to join our Health, Safety and Environment Team at Brunel University of London. In this pivotal role, you will act as one of the University's competent persons under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, leading the development, implementation and monitoring of our fire safety strategy across a large, complex and diverse estate. From student residences and laboratories to teaching spaces and public venues, you will play a critical role in ensuring that Brunel remains a safe, compliant and resilient organisation.

You will:

  • Deliver professional fire safety advice, training and support to staff and students across the University.
  • Carry out fire risk assessments, audits and inspections, and oversee emergency evacuation procedures.
  • Work closely with Estates on new building projects and refurbishment works, ensuring compliance with the Fire Safety Act 2021, Building Safety Act 2022, and recognised British Standards.
  • Liaise with enforcing authorities and external agencies, representing the University on all matters of fire safety.

We are looking for an individual who holds recognised fire safety qualifications, has experience managing fire safety in complex, multi-site organisations, and who is committed to promoting a strong fire safety culture.
