The Head, Member Engagement and Experience (MEE), Europe (EU), plays a pivotal role in strengthening IFAC's MVP across the region by adapting, delivering, and maximizing it for each member organization. The role focuses on building trusted, long-term partnerships and collaborating closely with member bodies and a broad range of strategic stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, central banks, supreme audit institutions, business associations, stock exchanges, academic institutions and other relevant institutions. This position is responsible for ensuring consistent, proactive, and meaningful engagement with members throughout the region, including identifying and managing a strong regional pipeline of global volunteers. The ideal candidate brings an established professional network, strong credibility, and a proven ability to influence across diverse institutional environments.
Working in close coordination with the global MEE team, the Regional Head ensures alignment and consistency in service delivery while responding effectively to regional needs and priorities. The role reports to one of the Global Heads of Member Engagement and Experience (MEE).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Customize, deliver, and continuously enhance the MVP for each member organization, strengthening the overall member experience across Europe (EU).
- Leverage data, insights, and member feedback to understand, prioritize, and respond effectively to diverse member and jurisdictional needs.
- Support the development and execution of IFAC's regional and jurisdictional member engagement strategies for Europe (EU), fostering strong relationships, enhancing the overall member experience, advancing the MVP and driving measurable impact across the region.
- Engage proactively and consistently with members to build trust and collaborative relationships that support their strategic objectives.
- Monitor and assess regional developments impacting IFAC's members, providing proactive insights and guidance to inform and shape IFAC's strategic agenda.
- Provide advisory and advocacy support to members on legislative, regulatory, and public policy matters impacting the profession.
- Collaborate closely with the Global MEE team to ensure alignment and consistency in service delivery worldwide.
- Act as a visible role model and champion of the MVP, upholding IFAC's commitment to integrity, professional quality, and public interest.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build, maintain, and deepen strong relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to Professional Accountancy Organizations (PAOs) and other key stakeholders across the region.
- Work with organizations who have expressed interest in membership with IFAC on the IFAC membership requirements and collaborate internally to adhere to established processes around membership applications.
- Work collaboratively with regional bodies to advance shared objectives.
- Connect, engage, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including national governments, financial and tax regulators, independent audit oversight authorities, central banks, stock exchanges, corporate governance institutes, universities, supreme audit institutions, and business associations.
- Identify, engage, and manage potential volunteers across the region to contribute to IFAC's global volunteer pipeline.
Event Coordination and Representation
- Facilitate knowledge-sharing, advocacy, and collaboration among PAOs, policymakers, regulators, and government bodies at national and regional levels.
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate regional events, forums, and workshops, ensuring alignment with the MVP and IFAC's strategic objectives.
- At the discretion of the CEO and Global Head, MEE, represent IFAC at high-level meetings, forums, and professional events, enhancing organizational visibility, influence, and stakeholder relationships.
- Will include travel within Europe (EU) and abroad.
Qualifications & Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent in Business, Accounting, International Relations, Public Policy, or a related field, preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in member engagement, stakeholder relations, public affairs, or leadership roles within professional or member-based organizations, preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, paired with excellent active listening abilities.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in additional EU languages is preferred.
- Proven capability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and deliver results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of regional trends and issues affecting the accountancy profession, with the ability to translate insight into action.
- Experience in data collection and analysis, including tracking trends, measuring impact, and generating actionable insights.
- Practical experience using Microsoft Dynamics Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
- Strong project management skills, creativity, and adaptability in response to shifting priorities.
- Proactive, forward-looking approach and commitment to the public interest.
- Ability to identify and execute opportunities to enhance the MVP, while navigating cultural and jurisdictional sensitivities.
- Collaborative team orientation with the ability to work effectively across multiple cultures and organizational levels.
- Strong interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and gravitas to build consensus among diverse perspectives.
- Willingness to travel within Europe with the potential for some international travel.
