Job Description Summary The role of Power System Engineer is an exceptional opportunity to make a real impact at one of the world’s leading energy technology companies, providing diverse electric systems, including grid connected and islanded power and propulsion systems on large scale global projects for land based grid, offshore marine and defence applications.

You will develop your career whilst developing into an important member of our class-leading team of Power System engineers.

The Power Systems Engineering team delivers class leading solutions using advanced analytical tools and develops safe, efficient and operational performance-led projects.

The Power Systems Engineer should expect to be involved throughout the tendering phase, detail design & development, procurement, manufacturing, test and commissioning stages of projects, and also supporting in-service aspects and obsolescence support.

You will use and develop your key skills, knowledge and experience to support and influence the development and delivery of class leading Power System solutions.

Job Description

In this role you will focus on

  • Undertake studies and analysis using power systems / engineering simulation software and be able to qualify the results using theory /or first principles.
  • Support the design and delivery of projects from individual through holistic solution depending on current project demands, including hardware specification, design, cabling, I/O schedules, etc…
  • Influence system, equipment design and specifications, through to test and validation.
  • Support product, system development and issue resolution.
  • Support integration of GEV and other third party suppliers’ equipment.
  • Generate technical documents, reports, studies and technical project deliverables.
  • Support factory acceptance tests and customer facing meetings.
  • Support design validation, testing and de-risking at our land based test facility at Whetstone.

We are looking for a professional who

  • Has applicable, or transferrable equipment and systems level knowledge and experience, ideally with deep domain experience in naval or related offshore and marine applications.
  • Has detailed working knowledge on power systems, and power conversion and supporting systems, equipment and infrastructure.
  • Has detailed knowledge of power systems and power systems analysis, and can undertake supporting analysis, studies and author supporting reports, and potentially validate using HIL or physical testing.
  • Can work with initiative on challenges, problem solving, is ambitious and driven to succeed.
  • Is working to, or already achieved CEng status.
  • Is a UK National and holds, or is eligible to obtain, UK security clearance to SC level.
