Key supplier facing Project Management role for Marine business unit within GEV Power Conversion UK Ltd. Reporting into the wider program team, this role will be focused on enabling the supply chain to meet our customers’ required goals through activities ranging from managing the supply chain relationships and information flows to supporting our suppliers in planning and delivery. An opportunity for an experienced Project Manager, although consideration will also be given to less experienced applicants with a strong desire to develop into the role.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a supply chain project manager for a key marine program, managing activities over a range of suppliers in different worldwide locations.
  • Initially some visits to Canada to work with key suppliers based there.
  • Support a multi-disciplinary program team to deliver the project objectives in a structured and efficient manner.
  • Interface with GEV participating units as needed.
  • Manage commercial, technical and quality issues on the project.
  • Create, maintain and drive progress against a plan.
  • Ensure compliance with GE processes and procedures at all times.
  • Register, compile, submit and negotiate extensions of time, extras to contract and other claims as appropriate.
  • Carry out project reviews to control projects, check progress, manage cost, identify deviations from plan, detect risk and forecast future performance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum HNC in a relevant subject or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • Experience in project management, quality, engineering and manufacturing in previous roles.
  • Experience of interfacing with external customers and suppliers.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to achieve security clearance at least to a ‘Basic’ level.

Desired Characteristics

  • Commercial or technical degree.
  • Professional status and/or formal qualification in a body related to project management or supply chain.
  • Knowledge of marine / naval markets.
  • Experience in the supply or procurement of LV/MV equipment/systems and switchgear.
  • Business operations and management experience.
  • Knowledge of contractual and legal aspects.
  • Experience with procurement and supplier negotiations.
  • Competence in the use of SAP is advantageous.
