At Rotating Machines Rugby (RMR), we design and build some of the most technically advanced electrical rotating machinery in the world. We specialise in manufacturing large electrical rotating machinery: Motors and Generators, across a wide variety of industrial applications. Our motors are powering some of the most advanced warships in the world, whilst our generators are decarbonising industry for a more sustainable future.
We are looking for an Engineering Technician with hands‑on experience in mechanical assembly and manufacturing work. The role involves building and assembling large mechanical components, using a wide range of tools and equipment, and following engineering drawings accurately. The ideal candidate is confident using tools, measuring equipment, and workshop machinery, and has a strong focus on safety and quality.
- Heavy mechanical assembly and large component builds
- Accurate bolt torquing
- Working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Understanding pressure systems, including PSI
- Electrical assembly, including wire stripping, crimping, and soldering
- Machine cutting and general machine operation
- CNC machine operation
- Fabrication work, including grinding and metal finishing
- Drilling, tapping, and metal brazing
- Safe operation of industrial ovens
- Welding experience is a plus, but training can be provided
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Using precision measuring tools such as micrometres and Vernier gauges
- Working confidently with both metric and imperial measurements
- Recording technical data and plotting graphs
- Using handheld, air‑powered, and electrical tools
- Operating overhead cranes (training provided)
- Basic computer skills for job tracking, booking, and data logging
