Site Facilities Maintenance Assistant role within the Naval team at Whetstone. The position involves supporting the Site Facilities Manager in day‑to‑day facility operations and maintenance.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and repairs to maintain a safe and efficient facility.
- Conduct minor mechanical repairs, troubleshoot equipment, and support maintenance on building facility systems.
- Provide an interface to the site manager for any issues requiring attention.
- Carry out painting, minor repair, and minor installation work to maintain facility appearance.
- Ensure outdoor areas, landscaping, pathways, and parking areas are clean, safe, and well‑maintained.
- Support project installations of new equipment, infrastructure improvements, and facility upgrades.
- Safely operate forklifts and mobile elevation platforms to move materials and access elevated areas for maintenance work.
- Follow workplace safety regulations, maintain tools and equipment in safe working order, and report hazard issues.
- Manage waste, keep work areas tidy, maintain stores, and assist where required.
Skills & Qualifications
- GCSE level education or above.
- Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools without supervision.
- UK forklift certificate and MUPE qualification desired; training will be provided if not held.
- PC and Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Knowledge of painting, plumbing, mechanical, grounds, and general maintenance.
- Existing or ability to obtain higher levels of UK Security Clearance, including SC Clearance and UK Eyes Only Clearance.
- Experience in a similar role is desirable.
- Good DIY standard and strong teamwork and self‑motivation skills.
- British citizen with a valid UK passport and a valid full UK driving licence.
