Lead Power Systems & Test Engineer for GE Vernova’s Marine Power Test Facility in Whetstone, UK. The role provides electrical leadership, ensuring safe commissioning and maintenance of high‑voltage systems while driving improvements in processes and technology.
Responsibilities
- Lead the commissioning, testing, and maintenance of cabling, switchboards, circuit breakers, transformers, UPS systems, generators, motors and power conversion equipment.
- Conduct switching operations, permit‑to‑work, sanction‑to‑test and access‑limitation procedures on large projects.
- Produce and maintain documentation to required standards, including design drawings, test reports and safety audits (BS EN 18001, Lloyds Register, DNV).
- Supervise test trials and control‑room operations, ensuring compliance with approved procedures and safety practices.
- Establish and manage documentation and drawings control as necessary.
- Manage safe systems of work, risk assessments and method statements for electrical work and testing, and supervise Permit/Lock‑out‑Tag‑out systems as a Senior Authorised Person.
- Coordinate complex site activities and collaborate with leadership to drive process and system improvements.
- Ensure all work meets safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Electrical HV authorisation and experience in managing safe systems of work.
- Proven record of HV/LV plant and systems commissioning.
- Experience in installation and commissioning of large projects.
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal in English.
- Ability to obtain or currently hold UK Security Clearance (SC and/or UK Eyes Only).
- Experience with integrated control schemes (PLCs, HMI, drives) and power generation/distribution is desirable.
- Excellent report‑writing, organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Continuous professional development record.
Location
Permanent position based in Whetstone, UK. On‑site 5 days a week.
