At Dowty (a GE Aerospace company) we have an exciting opportunity to join our team on an 18‑month fixed‑term contract as a Material Controller. You'll be responsible for maintaining the uninterrupted flow of work through our shop to meet the production plan and customer on‑time delivery. You'll facilitate resolution to any material issues preventing the plan from being met and problem‑solve with different departments (Operation / Materials / Customer Operations). You'll be operating within a compliant environment, while maintaining the integrity of the Business System.
Essential Responsibilities
- Attend daily Materials Fulfilment meeting to review material position, kitting priority & raise any concerns that require escalation.
- Creation of Work Orders for sub‑components of assets received into the facility.
- Work closely with Production Controllers to understand kitting priorities in line with standard work in progress (SWIP).
- Marshalling of material between cells, and transfer of material between OE and R&O organizations.
- Material kitting & presentation to the shop floor in line with production plan.
- Checking for any material shortages before booking assets to stock.
- Maintaining accuracy and validation of stock in our ERP system and other manual trackers and maintain traceability records for manufactured parts.
- Effectively control/maintain/implement Kanban/pull systems.
- Application of problem‑solving skills & can work with cross‑function teams.
- On‑site role within a manufacturing / production environment, working closely with production controllers, stores, despatch, and shop‑floor teams.
- Potential for overtime or shift flexibility depending on production needs.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Prior experience in material control is highly desirable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge and experience of ERP systems, preferably Oracle.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
