The Senior Manufacturing Engineering Strategy Leader – Electrical Power plays a pivotal role in driving excellence in manufacturing processes at GE Aerospace. This position is focused on leadership, innovation, and collaboration, with a mandate to optimise manufacturing operations, ensure top‑tier product quality, and champion continuous improvement initiatives. The role works closely with cross‑functional teams, mentors engineers, and applies lean manufacturing principles and GE Aerospace’s FLIGHT DECK operating system to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a recognised technical expert and process owner in manufacturing and process engineering, ensuring producibility (Design for Manufacturing) considerations are integrated into business processes.
  • Provide expert guidance to program management, design, and supply chain teams, staying informed of industry advancements.
  • Co‑chair and provide technical leadership in design/producibility reviews, manufacturing reviews, task forces, industrial committees, problem‑solving initiatives, and design boards as required.
  • Collaborate with Chief Engineers and Chief Technologists to align design and manufacturing engineering processes and initiatives.
  • Offer technical consultation to your assigned organisation and to other internal and external engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Identify and recommend improvements in technical knowledge and training needs, including developing strategies for key manufacturing disciplines.
  • Lead efforts to integrate new technologies seamlessly into production processes, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Work with multi‑year product and technology strategy teams to ensure manufacturing and process capabilities support future strategies.
  • Take ownership of the Multigenerational Manufacturing Plan (MGPP).
  • Provide technical support to production processes at manufacturing sites, focusing on yield, cost, quality, and delivery improvements.
  • Facilitate connectivity between site Manufacturing Engineering teams and Subject Matter Experts across GE Aerospace to drive problem‑solving, mentorship, and knowledge sharing.
  • Guide the implementation of new equipment, including writing specifications, cost justification, vendor selection, installation planning, start‑up, prove‑out, and benefits realisation.
  • Develop plans and secure funding for the maturation of new manufacturing technologies and processes.
  • Provide subject‑matter expertise for New Product Introduction (NPI) producibility and production readiness reviews.
  • Engage with Bids & Proposals, Advanced Technology Office (ATO), NPI design, and other upstream teams to offer Design for Manufacturing (DFM) insights and share manufacturing lessons learned.
  • Support engineering teams in enhancing DFM tools and capabilities.
  • Attend industry trade shows and events to identify emerging technologies and share findings with technical teams in supply chain and engineering.
  • Support the growth and development of manufacturing engineering roles at both site and global levels through mentorship, training, and collaborative project work.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a STEM‑related subject, and/or equivalent aerospace manufacturing experience.
  • Significant experience in a technical manufacturing capacity, with a strong background in a Manufacturing Engineering role within an advanced technology business.
  • Recognised authority in Power Generation & Conversion manufacturing engineering disciplines.
  • Strong ability to lead teams, mentor engineers, and collaborate across all levels of the organisation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Proven track record of leading teams through complex problem‑solving and root cause investigations.
  • Proficiency in lean methodologies, including GE Aerospace’s FLIGHT DECK operating system.
  • Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance is required and must be maintained for this role. If BPSS clearance cannot be obtained, the candidate may not be eligible for the role and/or any offer of employment may be withdrawn on grounds of national security.
