The Role

  • Demonstrate best practice in user centred design, for digital and non-digital interactions.
  • User Focus - Work with User Researchers to plan and develop research activities that help teams to better understand users.
  • Evidence and context-based design - lead the design of solutions that are based on evidence and help identify any gaps in knowledge.
  • Prototyping - use a variety of prototyping tools and methodologies, advising others on prototyping best practice.
  • Work effectively across multidisciplinary teams, adapting quickly to change.
  • Promote the importance of inclusive design and how to design with accessibility in mind. Familiarity with the WCAG 2.1 guidelines and ability to design to meet AA standards is required.
  • Work in the open, engaging others in the design process. Offer advice on improving working practices, leading to better collaboration across teams.
  • Use research and analytics to understand user needs and identify opportunities.
  • Create prototypes using appropriate tools and methodologies, advising others on prototyping best practice.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Must be able to have 2-3 project examples to run through on screen share.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Be able to summarise and briefly explain the context of a project.
  • Have excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to identify problems and show a plan to address them through the design process.
  • Proven experience in dealing with constraints.
  • A background in collaboration and negotiation with other team members.
  • Experience working in agile teams.

This role is a hybrid position to be based onsite in Manchester or Leeds. Travel to Manchester will be required.
