Purpose of the role
As a Mini-Bulk External Meter Fitter, you will be responsible for the installation of external water meters ranging from 15mm to 50mm across Thames Water sites in London and surrounding areas. Working as part of a 2-person team with 1 backup driver, you will ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. This role is essential in supporting accurate water usage monitoring and maintaining the integrity of the water network.
Key responsibilities
- Setting up and securing work sites in accordance with safety protocols
- Ensuring full compliance with safe digging practices
- Installing external water meters (15mm - 50mm) to specification
- Completing backfilling and first-time permanent reinstatement to required standards
- Clearing sites post-installation to leave them clean and safe
- Accurately recording all job details using a mobile app
- Maintaining a strong focus on health, safety, and environmental standards throughout all tasks
Key skills and experience
- NRSWA (New Roads and Street Works Act) accreditation
- Clean UK Driving Licence
- Blue Card (CSCS/CPCS)
- Manual Handling certification
- First Aid qualification
- Service Avoidance (CAT 1 or 2)
- Abrasive Wheel training
- Thames Water Passport (preferred training can be provided if not held)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
