Purpose of the Role
The Bid Writer will be responsible for creating high-quality, compelling written content for bids, tenders, and proposals that support IES Utilities growth strategy. Working as part of the Major Programmes & Bids team, this role will ensure submissions are clear, persuasive, and aligned with client requirements and company objectives. The Bid Writer will collaborate closely with subject matter experts, the Bid Manager, and other stakeholders to produce winning documents that enhance IES Utilities reputation as a Tier 1 contractor.
Key Responsibilities
- Content Development
- Write, edit, and proofread bid responses, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with client specifications.
- Translate technical and operational information into persuasive, client-focused language.
- Maintain consistency of tone, style, and branding across all bid documents.
- Collaboration & Coordination
- Work closely with the Bid Manager and internal teams to gather relevant information and ensure timely delivery of content.
- Participate in bid planning sessions and contribute to the development of win themes and key messages.
- Liaise with subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy and completeness of responses.
- Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all written content meets governance, compliance, and quality standards.
- Review and refine responses to maximise scoring potential against evaluation criteria.
- Maintain and update a library of standard responses, case studies, and supporting materials.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve bid writing processes and templates.
- Stay informed about industry trends, client expectations, and best practices in bid writing.
