The Role
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Head of IT and DevOps to lead the evolution of IES’s global technology estate. This is a senior leadership role combining enterprise IT, modern DevOps practice, and cloud transformation. As with all technology leadership roles, it’s essential to incorporate emerging AI capabilities into the team’s work. You will define and deliver technology strategy, modernise infrastructure and platforms, mature DevOps practices, and embed AI as a core enabler across the team. The role will play a critical part in transitioning IES away from traditional on-premises infrastructure, establishing a fully cloud-based, secure and scalable environment. You will support our ambition to become an AI-first organisation and will lead the effort to achieve that ambition within your own team.
What You’ll Do
- Define and deliver an integrated IT and DevOps strategy aligned with IES’s business goals
- Lead global IT operations across ITSM, service desk, resilience, disaster recovery and monitoring
- Build and lead high-performing teams across IT, DevOps and Cloud
- Manage vendors, budgets, forecasting and FinOps to control costs and align spend with business priorities
- Lead the move from legacy data centres to a secure, scalable multi-cloud environment
- Embed DevOps best practices across engineering, championing automation, CI/CD and cloud-native delivery
- Oversee infrastructure, cloud, network architecture and platform strategy
- Embed cyber security, risk management and secure-by-design principles across all services
- Manage compliance and audit activity, including ISO 27001 recertification, coordinating inputs and actions across multiple departments company-wide
- Partner with Product, Engineering and senior leadership to shape and deliver technology direction
