The Gig
As our Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) Lead (UK), you’ll own the hands‑on delivery of AEO programmes across our global client base, from technical audits and schema implementation to structured content strategy and AI visibility reporting. You’ll be the go‑to expert driving how brands appear across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and other AI‑driven search and discovery engines. Working alongside our Global Head of Performance Marketing and Data & Technical teams in the UK, India, and US, you’ll lead the implementation of scalable AEO frameworks, guiding both internal teams and clients through the fast‑evolving landscape of AI‑powered visibility.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading the day‑to‑day delivery of AEO programmes — from initial technical audits to structured data implementation, testing, and reporting.
- Translating client briefs into executable AEO plans, including entity mapping, schema markup, content optimisation, and tracking setup.
- Managing and improving the crawlability, indexation, and Knowledge Graph visibility of client domains through structured data and E‑E‑A‑T alignment.
- Collaborating closely with SEO, Data, and Content teams to ensure AEO initiatives integrate seamlessly with wider organic and paid strategies.
- Running experiments to improve performance across AI answer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude), tracking coverage and entity recognition growth.
- Building and maintaining AEO process documentation, templates, and SOPs to ensure scalable, repeatable delivery across markets.
- Reporting on AEO performance, including visibility share, structured data coverage, and AI citation tracking, translating complex insights into simple narratives.
- Supporting new business and thought leadership through AEO insights, case studies, and pitch contributions that demonstrate tangible performance uplift.
- Coaching and mentoring delivery teams to strengthen AEO capability and awareness across the agency.
About You
- Proven experience in hands‑on technical SEO or AEO delivery, not just strategy — you’re comfortable implementing schema, running audits, and testing structured content.
- Deep understanding of AEO, entity‑based SEO, and how AI engines surface and prioritise content across emerging answer ecosystems.
- Familiarity with key tools and data sources: Google Search Console, Schema.org, Screaming Frog, Semrush, and entity recognition APIs.
- Strong understanding of E‑E‑A‑T, structured data standards, and how to measure AI visibility through emerging datasets and APIs.
- Confident working across multi‑market client portfolios with distributed teams and external partners.
- Excellent communicator able to simplify technical concepts for non‑technical audiences and build trust with senior stakeholders.
- A self‑starter who enjoys testing, learning, and evolving best practice in a rapidly changing space.
- Equally strategic and practical — you can zoom out to define the AEO roadmap but thrive most when implementing, testing, and seeing measurable results.
