We are supporting a major Payroll Transformation Programme and are seeking an experienced Payroll Process Expert/SME to play a key role in shaping and improving core payroll workstreams. This is a hands-on advisory role where you will bring deep payroll expertise to help define best practice, address pain points, and guide delivery teams towards effective, scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide SME input across key payroll transformation workstreams, including:
- End-to-end payroll data flows (inputs, outputs, integrations, controls, and best practice)
- Definition of roles and responsibilities across the payroll function
- Development of training frameworks and knowledge structures
- Design and refinement of the Target Operating Model (TOM)
- Assess current state processes and identify gaps, inefficiencies, and risks
- Provide consultancy guidance on resolving key payroll challenges
- Support the team in prioritising and driving practical, sustainable improvements
- Work closely with stakeholders across HR, Finance, IT, and Operations
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a Payroll SME/Payroll Process Expert on transformation programmes
- Strong understanding of end-to-end payroll ecosystems, including data flows and controls
- Experience designing or contributing to Target Operating Models (TOM)
- Ability to define processes, governance, and operating frameworks
- Experience developing training and knowledge frameworks
- Strong stakeholder engagement and advisory skills
- Ability to work in a hands-on, delivery-focused environment
