This is an excellent opportunity to join our busy finance team as a Payroll Manager. You will report to the Head of Group Finance and be responsible for the Group’s payroll function which includes end to end processing of the UK payroll, managing external payroll bureaus for overseas companies, supporting the Senior Finance, Operations and People teams with monthly reports, ensuring the company is compliant with new payroll legislation and ad hoc queries. Past payroll experience is required, and you should bring strong organisational and time management skills and be able to work both independently and as part of a team. Key Responsibilities
- Manage full compliance with all statutory and third-party payments, ensuring accuracy and submission within the required deadlines.
- Management of the third-party payroll bureau for overseas companies ensuring that all payroll-related objectives are met in a timely manner.
- Input into the growth of the payroll team to ensure the business is adequately supported on a day-to-day basis.
- Manage an efficient and effective end-to-end payroll service, including creation/checking of new employees, payments, deductions and terminations.
- Liaise with employees to resolve queries, always maintaining a professional, compassionate and empathetic approach.
- Develop close relationships with the People team so that compliance is adhered to as well as develop a robust process that maintains the accuracy of the monthly payrolls.
- Review current payroll processes and make proposals to Senior Finance for improvement.
- Manage and ensure all reconciliations of the payroll balance sheet accounts are completed and resolve any variances.
- Responsible for creating and posting payroll journals.
- Custodian of the Group’s employee direct allocations to the business which includes intercompany journals, monthly reporting and reconciliations.
- Ensure pension scheme administration is accurate and up to date, complying with all regulatory requirements.
- Analyse and report on payroll data for CFO reporting, Gender Pay Reporting and Executive Pay Reporting.
- Work closely with external auditors on all payroll related transactions and processes, ensuring that all monthly controls are met and documented.
- Assist the Training team to utilise our Apprenticeship Levy effectively.
- Travel to meet colleagues may be required.
To be successful you should bring:
- Understanding of UK payroll best practice and past experience of working in payroll.
- Computer literacy in using Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, and Sage50 payroll software.
- Strong written and verbal communication with stakeholders.
- Organised work ethic and multi-tasking.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Professional approach with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience/knowledge of Sage 50 payroll or other payroll software.
- Ability to keep up to date on legislation changes.
