This is an opportunity for an experienced Management Accountant to join the Idox finance team supporting the division as Business Partner. The role has a variety of responsibilities, involving responsibility for the management information packs and reporting for a business division, and tackling emerging requirements. There are plenty of challenges and opportunities to develop your business acumen and accounting skills.
The successful candidate will be exposed to a fast-paced, acquisitive and ever-changing corporate environment. The role will report directly to the head of the Business Partnering group based in Glasgow, which is where the majority of the finance team are based. In Farnborough you will have daily contact with your Divisional Director and the Geospatial Executive team, communicating with operational staff on a regular basis. You will have a team of three finance posts: a finance controller, and accounts payable and receivable team. We are looking for a professional to uphold professional rigour, but at the same time forge a warm and constructive relationship with business colleagues.
Please note that the business is moving to a new accounting platform which may result in organisational redesign of reporting lines in the year ahead. The role is hybrid, with 2-3 days in Farnborough and the rest can be working from home if preferred.
Key responsibilities:
- Responsibility for the statutory entity Idox Geospatial Limited, which is run on a separate ledger to the wider Idox business (Quickbooks).
- Recording and reporting, and P&L and BS ownership sits in the scope of the role and the team it leads.
- Review of (and sometimes preparation of) management accounts for Idox Geospatial Ltd.
- Entry of these to central team spreadsheets via mapping tool.
- Review of management accounts for two BUs to understand key movements, in liaison with central team.
- Generation of single reporting pack for the division.
- Generation of narrative and analysis to support variances.
- Act as the main finance contact for the Division.
- Ownership of the deferred revenue process.
- Ownership of the royalty return preparation and submission process.
- Quarterly sales commission plan support and delivery management.
- Business planning: quarterly forecasting.
- Business planning: annual budgeting.
- Other ad hoc work as required.
- Key player in Idox Finance team driving standardisation across the team.
- Weekly executive team meetings in Farnborough.
Please note: in year one you will be responsible for working with the central finance team to facilitate the accounting platform transfer from Quickbooks to Certinia.
To be successful, you should bring:
- A qualified accountant, ICAS, ICAEW or CIMA.
- At least 5+ years post qualified experience.
- A confident communicator - you will be speaking with operational staff on a daily basis and challenging them where necessary.
- A team player used to working in a fast moving environment.
- Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Motivated individual willing to take responsibility.
- Must be able to work to tight monthly deadlines and strict reporting deadlines.
