We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician based at our wastewater treatment site at Maple Lodge STW. As a successful candidate, you will apply your electrical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, diagnose faults, test, install, modify or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment in a safe, efficient, and timely manner, with minimum supervision, to keep our sites operational.
What you'll be doing as the Electrical Technician:
- Ensuring health, safety, and well-being of yourself, colleagues, contractors, and visitors as the top priority, complying with Health and Safety regulations and our guidelines.
- Undertaking both reactive and planned maintenance, responding to alarms and fault-finding to identify issues, fix or escalate them, and performing planned maintenance of plant and equipment on a daily basis, installing new plant and equipment as required in line with current standards and regulations.
- Recording work and asset information to improve performance, identifying possible future risks and recommending changes, raising these for resolution as required.
- Providing specialist technical advice where appropriate, keeping up-to-date technical knowledge, and coaching, training, and developing staff under their supervision, including the apprenticeship programme.
- Delivering excellent customer experience and positively contributing to overall customer satisfaction by interacting with internal and external customers in a timely, professional, efficient, respectful, and polite manner.
Base Location: Maple Lodge STW – WD3 9SQ
38 hours per week, Monday-Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, plus standby rota payments and overtime opportunities that can increase earnings by up to an additional £8,000-£10,000 per annum on completion of essential training. All PPE, tools, plus the provision of a van when on duty and on call.
What you should bring to the role:
- Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical or electrical systems, or NVQ or C&G Level 3 in electrical engineering.
- 18th Edition battery rating preferred, but training can be given.
- A problem solver able to identify potential issues and implement solutions, or to escalate if required.
- An excellent communicator, providing technical expertise to internal and external staff and contractors.
- Resilient, able to adapt to the pressures of work and a constantly changing environment.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and under own initiative to design and meet standards.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry.
- Team player who can work in many different teams, showing respect for others, providing helpful feedback, and supporting the development of others.
- Full UK driving licence.
