We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at Rye Meads Sewage Works. Your role will involve ensuring all equipment operates safely and efficiently through proactive and reactive maintenance, supporting site operations. This position offers a chance to make a significant environmental impact by helping reduce pollution from our sites.
What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical Technician:
- Investigate plant failures and perform repairs promptly to prevent process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults during incidents.
- Provide technical advice, stay updated with technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees as needed.
- Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, conveyors, centrifuges, pumps, control gear, VSDs, valves, measurement devices, drives, and chemical handling equipment.
- Complete statutory checks as required.
- Work safely, adhering to all Health and Safety guidelines and procedures.
Base Location: Rye Meads Sewage Works - SG12 8JY
Working Pattern: 38 hours Monday-Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, with standby and overtime opportunities that can increase earnings by £8,000-£10,000 annually. All PPE and tools are provided.
What you should bring to the role:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
- A valid driving license.
- Experience as a time-served apprentice in Mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
